We’ve been to places like this, and we’ve noticed that while for the most part it is the personality of the residents that make the place so, how the house is decorated is also a major factor in creating ambiance.
One way of creating the atmosphere you wish to evoke is to suggest it visually, through decorative lettering. The effect is that of handcrafted stenciling art, and unless one scrutinizes the lettering very closely, your guests wouldn’t know it took you just a few minutes to place this on your wall or chosen surface.
We chose an architrave in the living room foyer, on top of the arch closest to the stairs, for this project. Our quote of choice is “Love, Laughter, and Friendship are always welcome here,” done in two lines using the Decorative Lettering Art Cymbeline (French Category), in Chocolate Brown, at a 4-inch height. Above the first line of the quote we placed the Two Birds lettering art in the same color. We went a step further and embellished the project with a thin straight line to emphasize the lettering art.
Friends and relatives who come to visit will be delighted with this quote, which is an invitation for warm relationships, good times, and creating memories. The choice of color – Chocolate Brown – contrasts with the cream colored background, and is a continuation of the house’s dark brown wood embellishments.
